In the new design of the NHS, CMR is regarded as a specialised cardiac service. Over the past year, we have been involved in a Clinical Reference Group that feeds into the National Commissioning Board (NCB). Although no outcomes have emerged, as yet, it is likely that CMR centres will receive centralised funding through the NCB. This is an exciting opportunity for the provision and further development of CMR in the UK.
