BSCMR Amyloidosis Webinar
October 9 @ 17:30 - 19:30
We are delighted to invite all BSCMR members to our Amyloidosis webinar on Thursday 9th October 2025 at 5.30pm.
This in-depth session will explore the role of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in cardiac amyloidosis.
Bringing together leading experts Dr William Moody and Professor Charlotte Marianna Fontana to discuss:
-
• CMR imaging in cardiac amyloidosis: Role in diagnosis, staging and prognosis
-
• CMR imaging strategy in cardiac amyloidosis: Importance of adopting a standardised approach
This session will also feature a Symposium from AstraZeneca.
This is a non-promotional symposium sponsored and organised by AstraZeneca and is intended for UK HCPs only.
This event is free for BSCMR members. Attendees will receive 1 CPD credit upon attendance and feedback completion.

We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be an insightful and impactful session.

Dr William Moody
Consultant Cardiologist – Imaging and Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions
Dr Moody is Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer within Cardiovascular Sciences. His research parallels closely with his clinical interests; he is working on using novel imaging techniques to better inform the management of patients with inherited cardiomyopathies, cardiac amyloidosis and sarcoidosis.
He is also examining the role of non-invasive imaging to stratify risk among patients with end stage liver and end stage renal disease. Dr Moody is the Director of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance, Clinical Lead for the Midlands Amyloidosis Service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
He plays an integral role in the structural interventional mitral and tricuspid program at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He was enrolled on the inaugural British Cardiac Society Early Leaders Program and is now an elected member of the British Cardiac Society Guidelines and Practice Committee.

Professor Marianna Fontanna
Professor of Cardiology and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist
Professor Mariana Fontana is the director of the University College London (UCL) Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) unit at the Royal Free Hospital.
She is Professor of cardiology and honorary consultant cardiologist at the National Amyloidosis Centre, division of medicine, UCL, where she is deputy head of centre and deputy clinical lead. She obtained her medical degree and qualifications as a cardiologist at the University of Pisa.
She was appointed Director of the UCL CMR unit in 2015, which she founded, and professor of cardiology at UCL in 2020. She was awarded with an intermediate fellowship from the British Heart Foundation in 2018.
Prof Fontana is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Michael Davies Early Career Award in 2021 and the BHF Fellow of the year award in 2022.
Her major clinical and research interests are in the delivery of efficient and effective care for patients with amyloidosis, with a particular focus on new technologies: imaging and drugs.
