BSCMR Webinar: EACVI CMR Exam Preparation
We are pleased to invite BSCMR members to a dedicated online webinar designed to support candidates preparing for the 2026 EACVI CMR Exam. The programme consists of concise, curriculum-focused sessions delivered by experienced CMR faculty.
This year’s webinar will place particular emphasis on practice questions, helping candidates become familiar with the style of the examination while consolidating key knowledge across the EACVI CMR curriculum.

Learning Objectives
Overall aim: To consolidate the core knowledge and practical examination skills required for candidates preparing for the 2026 EACVI CMR Exam.
By the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:

Apply core CMR physics principles to common examination scenarios, including image acquisition, contrast and artefacts

Recognise and interpret characteristic CMR findings in non-ischaemic cardiomyopathies, myocarditis and inherited cardiac conditions

Assess common cardiac masses, extracardiac findings and valvular heart disease using appropriate CMR techniques
- 4
Interpret CMR assessment of ischaemic heart disease, including stress perfusion and myocardial viability

Use a structured approach to EACVI-style practice questions and apply practical strategies for the examination
Dr Freya Lodge
Consultant Cardiologist, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board
Dr Freya Lodge is a Consultant Cardiologist at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. She qualified from Cambridge and Imperial College London and completed her cardiology training in Wales. She undertook a cardiac imaging fellowship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. She specialises in echocardiography and CMR.
Dr Alina Hua
Consultant Cardiologist, Barts Health NHS Trust and Royal Free London
Dr Alina Hua is a Consultant Cardiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust and Royal Free London. She completed her specialist cardiology training in London. She undertook a PhD in cardiac imaging at King’s College London, focusing on multiparametric tissue characterisation of myocardial inflammation. She specialises in heart failure, cardio-oncology and cardiovascular imaging.
Dr Emmanuel Androulakis
Consultant Cardiologist, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Dr Emmanuel Androulakis is a Consultant Cardiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College Hospital. He completed his cardiology training and advanced fellowships in inherited cardiac conditions, cardiomyopathy and multimodality cardiovascular imaging. He holds a PhD in cardiovascular genetics and an MSc in Sports Cardiology. He specialises in inherited cardiac conditions, sports cardiology and multimodality cardiovascular imaging.
Dr Anvesha Singh
Associate Professor and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist, University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
Dr Anvesha Singh is an Associate Professor and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. She completed her cardiology training in the East Midlands and undertook a PhD at the University of Leicester investigating the role of CMR in aortic stenosis. She specialises in cardiovascular imaging, including echocardiography and CMR, with research interests in aortic stenosis, myocardial remodelling and cardiovascular risk stratification.
Dr Richard Crawley
Post-CCT Clinical Fellow, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust
Dr Richard Crawley graduated from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2011 and completed his cardiology specialist training in the Wessex Deanery. He is undertaking a post-CCT fellowship in cardiac imaging at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. He has a specialist interest in ischaemia testing and myocardial perfusion and recently completed his PhD at King’s College London investigating high-resolution quantitative stress perfusion CMR.
Dr David Broadbent
Principal Clinical Scientist in MR, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Dr David Broadbent is a Principal Clinical Scientist in the MR physics group at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and a visiting researcher in the Biomedical Imaging Sciences Department at the University of Leeds. He supports the University’s clinical research MR scanners at Leeds General Infirmary, predominantly within the Advanced Imaging Centre. In his clinical scientist role, he provides scientific and safety support to clinical MR services.
