Cardiac MRI Strain Analysis: From Principles to Clinical Practice

We are pleased to announce the next session in our educational webinar series, Cardiac MRI Strain Analysis: From Principles to Clinical Practice, taking place on Wednesday 15th July at 6:30pm.

This practical and clinically focused webinar will explore the expanding role of CMR strain analysis in contemporary cardiovascular imaging, providing attendees with a clear understanding of both the underlying principles and real-world clinical applications.

Led by Professor Steffen Petersen and Dr Padraig O Driscoll, the session will offer expert insight into myocardial strain imaging and its growing importance across a range of cardiovascular conditions. The session aims to cover a range of key topics including:

  • The fundamental principles of myocardial strain and myocardial mechanics
  • The main CMR techniques used to measure strain, including tagging, DENSE, SENC, phase contrast, and feature tracking
  • Key clinical applications of CMR strain in cardiomyopathies, heart failure, and ischaemic heart disease
  • How strain analysis can support diagnosis, risk stratification, and patient management in clinical practice

As advanced tissue characterisation and functional imaging continue to evolve, strain imaging is becoming an increasingly valuable tool for understanding myocardial performance beyond conventional measures such as ejection fraction.
